Barbara Leiterman
Associate
Barbara Leiterman received her B.A. from Dalhousie University in International Development Studies, and her J.D. from Pace University School of Law. At Pace she was on the Dean’s List three out of six semesters, won a Pace Law School Merit Scholarship, and the Vanessa Merton Public Service Award for her work litigating a deportation case before the Manhattan Executive Office for Immigration Review.
Barbara has been published in Ms. magazine, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, and the New York Times. She was admitted to practice in New York in 2009. Prior to joining De Castro Law Firm she worked as a Volunteer Attorney in the Housing Law Division of the Harlem Community Law Office of the Legal Aid Society, and as a Legal Aide to the Environmental Protection Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s Office. She is thrilled to be working at the De Castro Law Firm. She sees the fight for affordable housing as a way to protect the diversity that makes New York City a living testament (on its best days) to the possibility of “a more perfect union.”
